Tool Management Technician

This position is responsible for general portable, durable hand tool logistics and management transactions that occur between manufacturing operations and procurement and/or third-party service providers. In this capacity, the successful candidate will function in a water spider capacity to pick up portable, durable tools that need maintenance, repair or periodic inspection and deliver them to the appropriate support organization. In turn, the employee will return tools to the manufacturing area once new tools are received, repaired, inspected and setup. Responsibilities will include maintaining the tool inventory database, helping to source new and replacement tools to satisfy operations requirements, auditing area tool control practices, facilitating the annual tool replacement forecast, and reporting various tool management metrics. In addition, this position will help Operations Excellence facilitate area 5S and tooling Point of Use improvements, including tool kit planning, design, build and tool marking to adhere to established tool control management policies, procedures and standard work.
Perform logistics (water spider) requirements in a shop floor environment transporting various portable, durable tools between aircraft manufacturing areas and tool procurement and maintenance functions
Maintain an online tool inventory database ? adding, removing and maintaining proactive tool accountability
Facilitate annual tool maintenance and replacement forecasts; working with site operations leadership to incorporate that into the annual capital and operating budgets
Conduct, compile and report tool control and management metrics; driving a culture of accountability to improve safety, fiscal responsibility and foreign object avoidance
Work with the Manufacturing Operations, Operational Excellence and the Fabrication departments to support 5S, POU, and tool kitting activities; including tool kit construction and maintenance
Work with Production Technology and Procurement organizations to identify innovative tooling, kitting and POU solutions to enhance operations safety, quality, schedule and cost
Perform minor tool maintenance and identification marking (e.g. vibro etch, laser etch, tagging, color coding, etc.)
Basic Qualifications
High school degree or higher
Must be able to navigate through a manufacturing area with the capability of moving tools of various shapes and sizes and performing physical maintenance activities
Strong self-motivation and ability act independently to efficiently complete tasks ontime and wihtin budget
Team oriented with the ability to participate in project improvement events
Deal well with high-pressure situations, shifting priorities, and competing interests
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively operate between a shop floor operations environment and professional support organizations
Tenacity to enact and enforce standards; coach and familiarize operators
Comfortable learning and navigating online systems and databases (SharePoint, Internet Explorer, and tool control databases)
Proficient using basic MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Associate degree in a technical discipline
Experience in a manufacturing environment, especially with related hand tools and equipment

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
